A major political issue in Western Europe is the high unemployment rate, especially within France. The unemployment rate in France has reached 9.9% as of 2016, and their president, Francois Hollande, has failed to successfully address this issue, resulting in his decision not to run for a second term. A greater unemployment means that people spend less money, which slows economic growth. Poor spending and policy planning by their government has resulted this recession.
A huge political issue in the region is the country's inability to handle the refugee migrant crisis. Each country is dealing with this problem in a different way. Germany has been letting many refugees seek asylum in its borders, but countries like France and Austria are more wary of these migrants and have been putting caps on the number of migrants allowed. There have also been a lot of protests supporting either side of this issue.

Their governments struggle with public finances, resulting in a lack of good infrastructure. They aren’t prioritizing roads or transportation such as trains, and their building need refurbishment. Their governments are equipped to fix this issue.
